Our Treatments

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is part of the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese medicine where thin needles are used to stimulate the nervous system, to release endorphins, which is our natural pain-killing chemical. It also affects the part of the brain that governs serotonin, a chemical involved with mood. Acupuncture has a relaxing effect. It clears blockages, moves blood to nourish organs and promotes mental and physical well being.

Massage

Tuina massage originated in ancient China and is believed to be the oldest system of bodywork. It is the stimulation of the tissues, muscle and fascia that surround the skeleton and internal organs and helps to increase the flow of blood and energy around the body which reduces pain, inflammation and offers relaxation. It’s similar to acupuncture in the way it targets specific acupoints, but practitioners use fingers instead of needles to apply pressure to stimulate these points.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is focused, short or long scraping motions on your skin with a smooth curved massage tool or roller to stimulate microcirculation of the soft tissue which increases blood flow. Increasing blood flow to the area helps to improve circulation, collagen, painful areas, inflammation and address skin health and chronic pain. It also has a lifting effect. Massage oil is applied to the skin and downward or upward motions are used with a Gem stone or other Gua Sha tool.

Moxibution

Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which dried plant materials called “moxa” are burned on or very near the surface of the skin or needle to warm, stimulate and invigorate the flow of energy and blood to the fascia, muscles, organs and spinal cord.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine makes use of herbs in combinations and tailored to the individual according to the underlying condition and the principles of traditional Chinese medicine.

Cupping

Cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine used to remove stagnation and stimulate the flow of energy so that it flows more easily through the body.
